Ex Motors (Atex 1, 2, 22)

Brook Crompton Ex motors are engineered to meet ATEX and IECEx requirements, with protection types including Ex d/eb (flameproof), Ex e (increased safety), Ex nA/Ex ec (non-sparking), and Ex tc (dust ignition protection), suitable for Zones 1, 2, 21, and 22. The range is available in cast iron construction for heavy-duty environments, with aluminium options for selected Ex e and Ex nA/Ex ec designs. Frame sizes typically span IEC 63 to 355, with outputs from approximately 0.07 kW up to 400 kW depending on protection type, and 2-, 4-, 6-, and 8-pole configurations available.

Cooling is typically IC411 (TEFC), with Class F insulation and temperature rise to Class B. The range supports 50 Hz and 60 Hz operation, standard industrial voltage ratings, and inverter-duty operation with appropriate derating. Additional features include Ex-rated terminal boxes with flexible positioning, robust bearing arrangements, and options such as thermal protection and anti-condensation heaters. Ambient operating range is typically -20°C to +40°C, with extended ranges available depending on specification. Certification approvals include ATEX and IECEx, with additional regional and marine approvals available on request.
